Web-Building Finalists to Converge in Switzerland

ThinkQuest will be holding its ThinkQuest 2000 Internet Challenge finalist judging and celebration at the birthplace of the World Wide Web, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland. More than 120 students and coaches from around the world will attend the event on March 17-19. ThinkQuest's Internet-based programs are free to enter, and recognize winning students, coaches and schools with scholarships and cash awards.

The ThinkQuest Internet Challenge matches teens of various backgrounds, continents, and cultures, to create educational Web sites. Participants communicate and collaborate by e-mail and chat sessions, assign themselves tasks such as research and Web design, and work with an adult coach to complete their Web site creation. This year's participants come from more than 80 countries, and the finalists represent almost 20 countries. For most of the finalists, the Geneva event is the first time they will meet their teammates in person. For more information, to view winning Web sites, or to enter next year's ThinkQuest, visit the ThinkQuest Web site. ThinkQuest, Armonk, NY, (914) 765-1134, www.thinkquest.org.
