Discovery, CDW-G Award 5 Wireless Labs to Schools

Discovery Education and CDW Government (CDW-G) this week announced the winners in their 2007 Win a Wireless Lab sweepstakes. Each grand prize was valued at approximately $50,000. In total, some $300,000 in prizes was awarded to 45 educators from 22 states.

The Win a Wireless Lab sweepstakes, in its fifth year, is designed to provide schools with "state of the art" technology and to encourage teachers to integrate technology in the classroom.

  • Ballard High School, Seattle;
  • Canutillo Elementary School, Texas;
  • Central Manor Elementary School, Pennsylvania;
  • John Simatovich Elementary School, Indiana; and
  • Spalding Public School, Nebraska.

There were 170,500 entries for this year's sweepstakes, a record number of entries.

Grand prize winners received equipment ranging from computers to Discovery software, including:

  • 20 notebook computers or Tablet PCs from HP, Lenovo or Toshiba;
  • Three wireless access points from D-Link or NETGEAR;
  • One Bretford mobile cart;
  • Computrace security software;
  • One video projector from Epson, Mitsubishi or NEC Solutions;
  • One laser jet printer from Epson, HP or Lexmark;
  • One APC power supply; and
  • One networked collection of Discovery School CD-ROMs.

CDW-G and Discovery Education will provide installation and professional development services for the winning schools.
