Collier County Deploys Classroom Monitoring System

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Collier County School District in Florida has deployed a classroom monitoring and control system from NetOp Tech called NetOp School.

NetOp School is a monitor/control system designed for school computer labs and networked classrooms. It provides monitoring tools that allow the teacher to view the contents of any student's screen and share those contents with the rest of the class. It also allows teachers to send text messages to individual students. Other capabilities include:

  • Recording of student screens;
  • Mouse freezing;
  • Support for requests for help from students; and
  • The ability to hand control of the computer over to a student.

"More and more teachers are requesting NetOp School installations everyday," said John Antonacci, district technology analyst for Collier County. "Teachers will see their colleagues using a blocking feature or how easy it is for the teacher to demonstrate a particular point and then they will come find me and say, 'Hey, I want that!' The teachers have found that their favorite feature of NetOp School Version 5.0 is the quiz feature. They can quickly create a quiz on material the class has just learned and distribute it to each computer in the classroom. Just as easily, they get the quiz back and are able to grade it."

At Collier, 52 teachers and roughly 1,200 students are currently using NetOp School.
