ZB Releases PreK Handwriting Kit

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Education developer Zaner-Bloser has expanded its line of handwriting instructional tools with the release of a new pre-kindergarten program. Dubbed "On the Road to Writing and Reading," the program is designed to help preschool kids develop their handwriting skills.

The program teaches the basics of handwriting (letter strokes, upper and lower case letters, and numbers) using songs, stories, and and other techniques. It includes an instructional kit that contains materials on CD-ROM, plus a variety of traditional media tools, such as letter cards, alphabet cards, a magnetic dry-erase board with letters, games, practice pages, and Wikki Stix.

Said Dennis Williams, national product manager for ZB, "The value of handwriting instruction lies in the fact that handwriting aids in letter recognition and letter formation for children--critical skills in reading development. Research shows that letters in the alphabet are not learned holistically but through a 'visual system' where the brain breaks down curves, lines, and bars; in other words, emerging readers are using the skills taught in handwriting instruction."

The program is designed to complement existing pre-kindergarten curricula. More information can be found at the link below.
