Districts Adopt Infinite Campus SIS

Five districts in New Jersey and one in California have recently signed on with Infinite Campus for their student information systems. The Web-based SIS will be used to streamline student administration district-wide in these school systems and keep up with state reporting requirements.

Infinite Campus manages student data through a centralized database that provides real-time information to teachers, administrators and counselors. Authorized users can view changed data immediately without waiting for uploads or data synchronization. Parents and students can access assignment, grade, and attendance data through a Web interface.

The new districts adopting Infinite Campus include Bergenfield Public School District, Hopewell Valley Regional School District, Long Branch Public Schools, Millville Public Schools, and West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District in New Jersey and Redondo Beach Unified School District in California. Bergenfield went live with the system first, while Long Branch is in the final stages of deployment. The remaining New Jersey districts will go live in 2008.

Redondo Beach, the latest addition, will deploy Infinite Campus by February 2008. The district, which was previously using Pearson's SASIxp, manages data for about 8,000 enrolled students.

"Although Infinite Campus has a relatively new presence in California, I was not concerned. I was looking for the best system available for our district and our processes," said Derek Kinsey, chief information and instructional technology officer for RBUSD, in a statement released Wednesday. "Keeping up with California CSIS state reporting changes is virtually impossible. But when you look at the Campus data queue and reporting features, I know the information needed can be pulled out accurately."
