Northern CA District To Upgrade Student Data Management

Santa Cruz City Schools in Northern California is replacing its student information system (SIS) with Infinite Campus in a deployment that's expected to be completed in early 2009.
Infinite Campus manages student data through a centralized database that provides real-time information to teachers, administrators and counselors. Authorized users can view changed data immediately without waiting for uploads or data synchronization. Parents and students can access assignment, grade, and attendance data through a Web interface.
"Our former student data management system was outdated, requiring us to maintain 11 different servers. We needed a more efficient system to manage our data," said Susan Doucette, Santa Cruz City Schools IT manager, in a statement released Tuesday. "In addition, we needed a system that could provide improved state reporting, assessment and analysis tools. Infinite Campus came out on top."
The district previously used SASIxp 9.1 but was looking for a 100 percent Web-based solution that also offered custom reporting, daily backups, and specialized analysis features, according to Doucette.
The Infinite Campus deployment is expected to be live by January 2009. Infinite Campus is used in more than 1,200 districts around the country, according to the company.
Santa Cruz City Schools serves about 7,000 students presently.
