Garland Independent School District in Texas has awarded a three-year digital video contract to Safari Montage. Under the agreement, the company will outfit Garland's 68 school sites with a full suite of Safari Montage products.

According to the announcement, Garland's WLAN model was built to provide a "complete enterprise video system" for educators and students throughout the district. In designing the system, the Garland technology group cited 5 critical elements:

  • Video conferencing and distance learning capacity;
  • Ability to broadcast live media;
  • Robust digital media and rights management;
  • On-demand educational video content; and
  • Ad-hoc video production capabilities.

"Garland ISD considered proposals from 10 solution providers with the hope of finding a single proposal for all the requirements of their comprehensive video strategy," said Stan Maige, Director of Technology, Garland ISD, in a prepared statement. "Safari Montage, in partnership with systems integrator Pathway Communications, produced the only proposal that met every single requirement of the Garland ISD comprehensive digital video strategy. In fact, it exceeded expectations."

The Safari solution will give Garland ISD access to content from a variety of providers, including Schlessinger Media, PBS, The History Channel, and National Geographic, among others. The platform is also expected to simplify the upload and management process for the district's own content.
