Promethean Launches NatGeo Interactive Whiteboard Lessons

Working in partnership with the National Geographic Society, ed tech provider Promethean has launched a series of interactive whiteboard lessons for kindergarten and first grade. Based on features and instruction that appear in NGS's Young Explorer magazine, the Young Explorer ActivLessons feature stories and photography supported by group activities, printable worksheets, and a full teacher's guide.

ActivLessons can be used on their own or in conjunction with the magazine to teach young learners reading strategies and vocabulary, build and improve their literacy skills, and introduce them to science and social studies. The lessons are designed to be teacher-led, flexible, extendable, collaborative, and engaging for students.

The lessons can be used on any brand of interactive whiteboard using a free download of Promethean's ActivInspire Personal Edition software. In the coming months, Promethean said, the company plans to introduce additional functionality for the software in order to address educators' needs in conjunction with advances in technology and educational requirements.

Each ActivLessons package includes four stories and corresponding lessons. The first package includes: "The Forest in Winter"; "Officially Thanksgiving"; "Wild Turkeys"; and "Winter Snapshots". All lessons are available for $7.95 each (individual use subscription) at Promethean Planet's online shop here. A free preview of the ActivLessons can be downloaded here.
