Akron Public Schools Turns to ERP To Improve Business Operations

Akron Public Schools (APS) of Akron, OH, is deploying the Munis enterprise resource planning (ERP) software solution from Tyler Technologies. The contract, which includes installation, upgrades, support, and maintenance, will give APS access to a wide range of financial and human resource applications provided by the software.

APS said it hopes to improve its business operations through process automation and the use of workflow functions, as well as through enhanced data tracking and reporting. The Munis software will also allow the district to comply with a new Ohio Department of Education reporting mandate.

"We chose Munis because we think it's highly intuitive and will require less up-front training than other systems we reviewed," explained Debra Foulk, APS executive director of business affairs, adding that the software offers several other features that will allow the district to standardize business practices and reduce administrative costs.

APS enrolls approximately 23,000 students in 51 elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools, making it the fifth-largest district in Ohio.
