Tabula Digita Announces 2010 Educational Video Game Tourneys

Educational video game maker Tabula Digita will begin holding its 2010 Megabowl tournaments March 12 in New York City. The three statewide tournaments, to be held this spring in New York, Texas, and Florida, will bring together elementary and middle school students from throughout each state in video game competitions that will challenge, above all else, their skills in a variety of mathematical topics.

The video game series used in the tournaments is Tabula Digita's DimensionM. Comparable to many games designed primarily for entertainment, the DimensionM series offers graphics, sound and sound effects, storylines, and multiple levels, but with the added component of middle school level math problems, including algebra, that challenge and test the players' skill and build understanding of the underlying mathematical concepts being presented.

Following the New York tournament, which will be held at Columbia University in Manhattan, Megabowl events will take place in Austin, TX, April 14, and in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, May 21. The top prizes awarded in each tournament include a Flip HD Camcorder, a Fujifilm FinePix Z30 digital camera, and a Target Stores gift certificate.

Details about the respective tournaments can be found at the Megabowl Web site here.
