Contest Will Fund Classroom Makeovers

Insurance company Great American Financial Resources has launched a classroom equipment contest that will award small cash grants to three teachers who are voted the "most deserving" of a classroom makeover.

For the contest, applicants submit, via an online form, a short essay (a few sentences in length) describing why they deserve a classroom makeover. A classroom photo also needs to be included. To determine which teachers are among the deserving few, an online vote will be held, judging the merits of each applicant's submission.

Two prizes will be awarded to each winning applicant, one for the teacher's classroom and one of equal value for the school. The first-place winner will receive a $2,500 classroom grant and a $2,500 school grant; second place will win a $1,500 classroom grant and a $1,500 school grant; an third place will win a $1,000 classroom grant and a $1,000 school grant.

Applications are due Nov. 13. Finalists will be notified in December. Voting will take place in January 2011.

Further information about the contest, including entry information, can be found here.
