Ed Tech Grant To Award Classroom Response Systems

The Turning Foundation, NBC Learn, and Turning Technologies have opened the Spring 2011 Classroom Improvement Technology Grant, which will award educational technology packages to 10 teachers in the United States.

The grant is designed to "help educators develop 21st century classrooms and improve achievement by providing technology and professional development tools from multiple, industry-leading companies. By assembling a package of technology-based classroom programs, we hope to improve achievement and the overall success of students and teachers in the classroom."

The program will award 10 classroom technology grants to teachers in grades 3 through 12 in accredited, non-profit educational institutions. Prizes will include:

  • A 32-seat student response system, including polling software (TurningPoint and TurningPoint AnyWhere), ResponseCard RF-based keypads with LCD screens, a receiver, QuestionPoint 2 question bank, and tech support; and
  • A one-year K-12 subscription to NBC Learn--which provides standards-aligned multimedia learning resources--for the building in which the winning classroom is located.

The packages are valued at $3,500 apiece.

Applicants are asked to fill out a form, answer some technology-related questions, and pledge that they will submit a one-page evaluation of their technology implementation at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.

Grant applications are being accepted now through May 16. Awards will be announced May 23. Applications and further information can be found here.
