Arizona High School Wins HD Sports Production Vehicle in Video Contest

Centennial High School, in Peoria, AZ, took first place in NewTek's smart car HD mobile production vehicle contest with its spirited video of students rapping about school pride and academic goals. The high school will receive a 2010 smart car outfitted with a "TriCaster 455 multi-camera live production and streaming system, a 3Play 425 slow motion/instant replay system, control surfaces, and dual wing-mount monitors," according to a statement from NewTek.

Five students -- Tim Litwiller, Yuriy Isparyan, Malik Farria, Jorge Flores and Isaac Keene -- collaborated on the video project. Media/Production teacher Ken Keene served as the team's advisor. The students planned the video and handled all shooting and editing.

"This was a concentrated school effort, with everyone involved, and it shows what we can accomplish when we work together as a team," said Litwiller, in a prepared statement. The high school senior wrote the entry essay that put the team into the pool of finalists.

The students plan to use the production vehicle to cover sporting events throughout the district. "It will be so cool to drive this sports production car down to the middle schools and demo the TriCaster and 3Play for other students," said Isparyan. "We can show them what is possible with today’s leading technology, and maybe spark their interest in video production."

Nine runners up will receive a TriCaster 40 multi-camera production system. They are:
