Toshiba Unveils Two-in-One Notebook with Detachable Display

The Toshiba Portégé Z20t features a 12.5-inch HD IPS detachable display, reversible keyboard dock, and pen technologies by Wacom.

This week at CES 2015 in Las Vegas, Toshiba introduced the Portégé Z20t, a detachable PC with pen input that combines a notebook and tablet in one device.

The Portégé Z20t features a 12.5-inch HD IPS detachable display, reversible keyboard dock, and pen technologies by Wacom. Powered by an Intel Core M processor, the device weighs just 1.6 pounds (3.3 pounds with the keyboard dock) and boasts a battery life of up to 17.4 hours (9.1 hours in tablet mode). A hinge mechanism allows the tablet to be detached from the keyboard with one hand.

In tablet mode, a Micro HDMI port, Micro USB port and microSD slot are included for connecting to additional displays and fast data transfers. With the keyboard attached, the device features full-size RGB, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as two USB 3.0 ports.

Other features include:

  • 10-point multitouch support for Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 Professional;
  • Anti-fingerprint and anti-glare coatings;
  • Wacom digitizer with 2,048 points of sensitivity;
  • Secondary pen stored in a dedicated slot on the tablet;
  • M.2 SSD interface, configurable with a 128GB or 256GB solid state drive;
  • Up to 8GB of on-board LPDDR3 memory;
  • 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth v4.0 connectivity;
  • Ambient light sensor, gyroscope and an e-compass;
  • Spill-resistant, LED backlit keyboard;
  • Integrated Accupoint with its own dedicated buttons (in addition to a large clickpad);
  • Fanless chassis with black magnesium-alloy finish;
  • Toshiba's EasyGuard suite for data security;
  • Included Kensington lock port; and
  • Intel Active Management Technology, which allows IT departments to monitor, maintain, repair, update and upgrade machines remotely.

MSRP for the Portégé Z20t starts at $1,399. The Portégé WT20, a version of the device without the digitizer and keyboard base, will be available in February starting at $899 MSRP.
