Performance Matters Updates Unify Assessment Platform

Performance Matters has introduced PM Nation, a new addition to its Unify assessment platform.

PM Nation is an online collection of assessment content developed and reviewed by teachers in the Performance Matters community. It contains several thousand assessment items organized by grade and subject, and teachers can use PM Nation to create, review and share new items and assessments with other members.

Key features of PM Nation include:

  • Collection of thousands of vetted assessment items in many subject areas and grade levels;
  • Hundreds of copyright-free passages reviewed by experts for the company;
  • Standard protocols and shared responsibilities;
  • District or individual membership; and
  • Free access for Performance Matters customers.

The School District of Indian River County in Florida is implementing the Unify assessment platform and plans to use PM Nation as part of its formative assessment program. "With the switch to technology-enhanced items at the state level and the push toward standards-based instruction in our district, we need another resource for assessment items that have been written, vetted and used by teachers, and that incorporate a broader array of item types," said Brian McMahon, a performance data analyst with the district, in a news release. The district plans to write, administer and analyze its benchmarks through Unify and the teachers will use PM Nation, as well as district, third-party, state-provided and self-created items, to build their own assessments.

PM Nation is free to educators using the Unify assessment platform. Further information about PM Nation can be found on the Performance Matters site.
