Microsoft Ships $399 Surface Go Device for Schools

Microsoft has rolled out its new Surface Go, a $399 version of the popular Surface 2-in-1 device. Schools deploying Surface Go will have the option of running either Windows 10 Home in S mode or Windows 10 Pro.

Microsoft is expanding its line of Surface devices with the Surface Go, a $399 version of the popular tablet/laptop. Schools deploying Surface Go will have the option of running either Windows 10 Home in S mode or Windows 10 Pro. 

The Surface Go is the latest generation Surface device, offering a 10-inch (3:2) touchscreen with pressure-sensitive stylus support. It runs on the seventh-generation Intel Pentium Gold Processor (4415Y). Features include:

  • Up to nine hours of battery life;
  • Available ruggedized cases for schools;
  • 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity using the Surface Pen;
  • Support for the new Surface Mobile Mouse;
  • Surface Go Signature Type Cover, which includes the keyboard and trackpad supporting five-point gestures;
  • 165-degree kickstand;
  • Surface Connect port (for docking and charging)
  • USB-C 3.1 port;
  • MicroSD slot;
  • Headphone jack.

The Surface Go is available for now. A version of the device supporting LTE networks will ship later in the year, according to Microsoft. Further information can be found on Microsoft's site.
