Free Thursday Online Event Features 3D Printing in Education

3D printer maker MakerBot is hosting a free virtual summit on 3D printing and other STEM topics in education this Thursday, Jun. 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time. "Innovating for Tomorrow" will feature educators and students taking the online stage to show how the technology has changed their learning.

Panels and presentations include:

  • "Empowering the Future Women Leaders," in which Jackie Blizzard, Director of Curriculum at Girls Who Code, and Andrea Zermeño, Education Lead at MakerBot, will discuss empowering young women with the skills they need to become leaders and the role STEM plays in their success.

  • "Preparing for the Job Market: 3D Printing as a Necessity in Education," with high school teacher Peter Wachtel and MakerBot VP of Education Dottie Stewart providing best practices on how to use 3D printing to help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • "100 days of 3D Printing in the Classroom: From Certification to Integration," with elementary school teacher Jessica Pfau and MakerBot Product Manager Allison Mazzetti sharing guidance on how to integrate 3D printing into the classroom.

  • "Interactive Workshop: When STEM Becomes STEAM," to provide teachers with "everything they need to know to get started with 3D printing with their students," from the use of Tinkercad to how designs evolve into 3D-printed objects.

  • "Shifting from Knick-Knacks to Cross-Curricular Projects with 3D Printing," with Calvert Catholic Schools Director of Technology, Kevin Rinaman, helping attendees learn how to link curriculum to 3D printing and teach students creative thinking using the technology.
