SkillsBank to Create SW for the Home

SkillsBank Corp., a leading publisher of basic skills software for schools, and Grolier Direct are partnering to create "content-rich" educational programs for the home.

The two companies plan to release 30 new titles this fall, covering skills and concepts in mathematics and language arts for grades 3-8. Programs will be aligned with school curriculum and meet national education standards.

SkillsBank decided to enter the consumer market following research which shows that parents are taking a greater role in supporting their children's academic work at home.

Grolier Direct, a publisher of children's books, brings to the partnership a consumer-direct sales organization serving more than three million customers.

Programs will also incorporate SkillsBank's management system, which diagnoses a child's skills and prescribes individualized instruction based on his or her needs.
