Lucent Technologies Helps Blaze a Trail for University of Maryland Students

Trailblazer, a project from Lucent Technologies, gives students at the University of Maryland (UMD) the opportunity to learn from business leaders and gain the experience and skills necessary to be successful in the technological marketplace.

Thirty-seven undergraduates from the UMD are participating in the project. Representing a variety of academic disciplines, these students oversee implementation of cutting-edge technology solutions on the UMD campus. Students have participated in the installation of a Lucent wireless local area network in the graduate library and are testing Lucent’s voice-over-IP phones. Other aspects of Trailblazer include student mentoring with Lucent executives and a series of technology and leadership training modules taught by the communications technology company.
