Online Program Offers Writing Assessment for Students

Vantage Learning, an online testing and assessment company, has launched MY Access!, a dramatic new way for students to improve their writing via the Internet. The program provides students, teachers, administrators and parents with a first-of-its-kind assessment and instructional technology that allows students to continually practice their writing online, while having essays scored and returned to them immediately along with feedback for improvement. The online assessments take place in the classroom, while the students are working at computer terminals, or any place they have access to a computer with an Internet connection. Further, teachers have the ability to monitor their students' writing no matter where the process is taking place.

MY Access! allows teachers to recognize their students' writing strengths and weaknesses, then review and improve these skills based on students' individual needs. The program also allows teachers to compare student writing proficiencies against state and national standards, leaving more time for instruction.

The service uses the power of Vantage's IntelliMetric engine, which currently processes more than 400,000 test transactions per day for some of the world's leading educational institutions. IntelliMetric uses a rich blend of artificial intelligence and human expertise to provide a highly accurate assessment, instruction and management tool. The technology, which can be integrated with any existing classroom management or testing software, can access content from any subject area. Vantage Learning, Chicago, IL, www.vantage.com.
