Interactive Web Site Teaches Weather and Flood Dangers

A new Web site uses interactive activities to help educators and parents teachchildren about severe weather, particularly flooding. Created as a public service by Bankers Insurance Group, www.floodfacts.com lets children play games and tackle puzzles that teach flood preparedness, severe weather safety and weather-related terminology. Besides its informational value, the site encourages skill development in reading, problem solving, Web site navigation and following instructions. Colorful, upbeat and easy to navigate, the site's FloodZone Kids pages offer a variety of learning activities, including crossword and word search puzzles; an interactive game about what to take along in an evacuation; a rap song; a Family Survival Kit checklist for children to go through with their parents; and a Test Your Parents quiz. Kids can also print out their own personalized FloodZone Kid certificate from the site. Bankers Insurance Group, St. Petersburg, FL, (800) 627-0000, www.bankersinsurance.com.
