Virtual Classroom Benefits Students and Instructors

Batky-Howell Inc. has introduced the Vclass, the company's latest method of teaching, which allows students to participate in live, instructor-led training from their home or institution. Students hear lectures, watch on-screen presentations, participate in polls and discussions, and obtain assistance with hands-on labs, all while remaining in constant contact with the instructor. To participate in a Vclass, students only need a phone and a computer with Internet access. Students join a conference call that allows them to interact with one another, as well as the instructor. Through their browser, they are able to view the instructor's presentation and take notes in the materials that each student receives beforehand. An electronic whiteboard facilitates discussion and examples, while online polls make it possible for the instructor to assess the pace of the class. In addition, online chats and e-mail make it possible for students to receive individualized help during both lectures and lab times. Students can even control the presentation of materials from their own PC. Batky-Howell, Englewood, CO, www.batky-howell.com.
