Riverdeep Revamps Learning Village

Riverdeep Inc. and IBM have launched a new release of Learning Village, IBM educational software that is now a part of Riverdeep's family of products. Called Riverdeep Learning Village, the new release is an instructional portal, providing a single point of access for K-12 educators, students and their parents. It also offers tools that the company says improve teaching, enhance student achievement and facilitate continual improvement in schools.

The product features an easy-to-use instructional framework that enables districts to build, create, link and maintain their curriculum. It provides teachers with secure access to all of a district's Web-based applications using a browser. The product also facilitates collaboration and feedback among all participants of the learning community. Schools can integrate Riverdeep curricular content into the Learning Village instructional environment as well. With Learning Village, parents are also encouraged to stay involved by keeping them informed of their child's progress and activities.

The new release will run on IBM's WebSphere Application Server, providing a rich e-business application deployment environment with a complete set of application services, including capabilities for transaction management, security, clustering, performance, availability, connectivity and scalability. IBM will be the primary provider of implementation services for Riverdeep Learning Village, supported by other partners. Riverdeep Inc., Cambridge, MA, (888) 242-6747, www.riverdeep.net.
