Indiana District Moves to Online Student Data System

Indiana's Franklin Township Community School Corp. is overhauling its student information system in order to address new demands brought on by growth.
The district has chosen to adopt a Web-based system--Infinite Campus--as its new student information system.
"Franklin Township needed an SIS that could integrate our technology and help us efficiently manage our increased enrollment. Infinite Campus District Edition was exactly what we were looking for," said Ron Blackgrave, assistant superintendent of operations, in a statement released this week. "In addition, we wanted an innovative company, poised to meet our needs today, as well as prepare us for the future. Infinite Campus was everyone's first choice."
Infinite Campus manages student data through a centralized database that provides real-time information to teachers, administrators, and counselors. It allows parents and students to access assignments, grades, and attendance data through a Web interface. And it provides data warehousing, reporting, and data management for a range of K-12 information, including assessments, curricula, and special education.
Franklin Township serves about 8,900 students.
In related news, Silver Valley Unified School District in California also recently announced it will adopt Infinite Campus as its district-wide student information system.
"We also wanted to improve parental access to their student's data. The integrated nature of Infinite Campus will encourage more parents to participate with the school in guiding student learning," said Jason Buchanan, Silver Valley USD director of technology services, in a statement released this month.
Silver Valey serves about 2,500 students. Deployment is expected to be cmpleted in July, according to informaqtion released by Infinite Campus.
