South Dakota District To Deploy Classroom Management Suite

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Yankton School District in South Dakota is deploying a new student information system and classroom management suite. The district signed on recently with Pearson to deploy PowerSchool Premier and PowerTeacher.

PowerSchool Premier is designed to provide a variety of student data functionality, including reporting, communications, and access to up to date information about individual students. The Web-based system provides automated scheduling, grading, reporting, and attendance features and uses a single, centralized database to house district-wide data.

PowerTeacher is a Web-based classroom management tool designed to support a range of activities, including formative assessments, differentiated instruction, parent communications, and discipline management.

"We are committed to providing administrators, teachers and students with the industry's best, next generation solution that will optimize a student's potential for success and deliver the highest quality in education," said Wayne Kindle, principal of Yankton High School, in a prepared statement. "With PowerSchool Premier, we are one step closer to fulfilling this vision for education within our district. We look forward to integrating the Web-based grade book, which is vastly superior to the other offerings in the educational technology market."

The PowerSchool Premier rollout is expected to be completed by July 2009.

Yankton serves about 3,000 students in six schools--four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.
