enTourage Expands Educational Materials on eDGe Platform

enTourage has partnered with Cengage Learning to expand the selection of digital books available through its multi-role eDGe e-reader/netbook, which combines online connectivity, textbook access, and audio/video recording and playback, among other features, into one device.

enTourage's eDGe features dual hinge-connected display panels configurable for portrait, landscape, or 180 degree viewing as desired; a grayscale e-reader screen for text view; and a color LCD touchscreen. Both displays are interconnected, meaning a video link followed from the reader screen will open on the color screen, for example. Running Google Android OS with 3 GB of usable memory (which can be extended through built-in SD card slot or USB port), the eDGe tablet comes with audio and video display and recording, Web browsing through the device's WiFi capability, e-mail, calculator, alarm clock, and library for book management, as well as the option to add other applications as needed. Input modes include freehand writing via included stylus, virtual keyboard, or USB keyboard (not included).

Content available from enTourage includes more than 200,000 titles for purchase and more than 1 million free public domain items; the new partnership adds Cengage's catalogs covering K-12, higher education, and professional resources, along with library and reference content and English language teaching and international material.

Shown at the 2010 Campus Technology conference at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, MA, booth 735, the enTourage eDGe is also available for online purchase at $539. More information can be found here.
