Aruba and Stoneware Unveil Classroom Management Tool, Free for Aruba Customers
Aruba Networks and Stoneware have launched LanSchool Lite Plus, a new version of Stoneware's classroom management and monitoring tool specifically designed for Aruba wireless local area networks (WLAN).
LanSchool Lite Plus is free for Aruba WLAN customers. According to information released by the companies, the Aruba WLAN is designed to provide students with "an uninterrupted, engaging learning experience, using video and multimedia content over wireless," while LanSchool Lite Plus enables teachers to monitor and control their students' online activity from the teacher's own computer. With LanSchool Lite Plus, teachers can have a comprehensive view of their students' monitors, launch Web sites on their students' computers, and remove distractions by blocking applications or certain sites.
Key features of LanSchool Lite Plus software for Aruba WLANs include:
- A teacher dashboard that can monitor up to 3,000 students in one view;
- Real-time computer thumbnail monitoring;
- Full-screen view of students' monitors;
- View of students' active applications and last-visited Web sites;
- Ability to launch Web sites and support for Internet co-browsing; and
- Ability to turn student Web access on or off and block applications.
Aruba Networks recommends Aruba ClearPass as a complementary piece of the wireless classroom puzzle. ClearPass is a mobile device onboarding and management tool that helps schools manage school-issued, as well as staff- or student-owned, mobile devices. ClearPass supports management of devices, applications, and network policies to control student activity, and it enables schools to securely on-board personal and school-issued devices.
