WEx Extends Professional Development Resources via BloomBoard Platform
Working Examples (WEx) and
BloomBoard have partnered to expand the
number of professional development resources available to educators through
BloomBoard.
WEx, which is based at Carnegie Mellon University's
Entertainment Technology Center, is a
community of researchers, designers and educators who are developing new
research, tools, curricula and programs using educational technology. BloomBoard
is an online platform for individualized professional development for education.
According to information from CMU, WEx "will provide
infrastructure and support to creators of professional development offerings,
and a pipeline for their ideas to BloomBoard's marketplace." The partnership
will enable WEx innovators to reach educators through BloomBoard, and it will
enable teachers and administrators using BloomBoard to access professional
development resources being created through WEx.
"BloomBoard will give the WEx community an expanded audience for those users
who are building professional development tools and research," said Anna
Roberts, director of WEx, in a prepared statement. "At the same time, WEx can
provide invaluable feedback to BloomBoard's content creators and users, helping
them build better tools and develop better resources."
WEx was established in 2009 and is home to hundreds of ideas and works in
progress. BloomBoard was established in 2010 and offers books, articles, videos,
live events and lesson plans for teachers. It also provides school districts
with free tools for conducting observations and evaluations of teachers and
principals and uses the resulting data to develop individualized learning plans
for teachers.
Further information about WEx and BloomBoard can be found on the
Working Examples and
BloomBoard sites.
