Fayette County Schools Selects LMS To Boost Engagement, Achievement

Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) has adopted a learning management system (LMS) in an effort to improve student achievement and increase engagement with students, parents and the community.

"To promote learning and achievement of its more than 20,000 students at 26 schools, including the Open Campus and Alternative School, FCPS officials sought to implement one unified platform to connect its teaching, learning and community engagement initiatives," according to a news release. "The district previously leveraged free solutions that easily extended their student information system; however, they felt this strategy would not fulfill their long term vision of implementing a 21st century learning environment for staff and students."

The district selected Blackboard's Innovative Classroom Solutions. Tools and services in the package include:

"When our district was ready to make a significant change in how we use technology to empower the learner, Blackboard emerged as the right partner to help us achieve our goals," said Joseph Barrow, superintendent, Fayette County Public Schools. "Our district is taking the steps to change our teaching and learning culture and improve student achievement by leveraging Blackboard solutions and expertise. We look forward to leading by example and becoming a model district throughout Georgia."
