Minecraft: Education Edition 1.0.1 Released with Code Builder Support

Microsoft has released a new version of Minecraft: Education Edition that adds support for Code Builder, along with a number of other new features and improvements.

Code Builder is an extension for Minecraft that lets users perform typical Minecraft functions through code. It connects to ScratchX, Tynker and Microsoft's new open source development tool, MakeCode. Code.org's Code Studio is expected to be available for Code Builder later this year. It was initially released in beta earlier this month

In addition to support for Code Builder, Minecraft: Education Edition 1.0.1 adds a number of new features, including improvements to Classroom Mode — such as a UI update, the ability to toggle weather and chat management.

It also adds:

  • Adventure mode;
  • New command blocks and "minecart with command block";
  • Support for resource packs/addons;
  • Template worlds designed for education environments;
  • Villager trading;
  • Llamas;
  • New textures;
  • Smooth lighting toggle.

A complete list of new features and bug fixes can be found on Minecraft's changelog page.
