Krystal Foundation Opens STEAM Grants

The Krystal Foundation has opened its latest round grants designed to help K–12 schools and organizations fund STEAM education projects. The foundation has awarded nearly $80,000 in grants over the last three years.

The Squaring is Caring grants are designed to help teachers and educational organizations fund STEAM in the classroom. Eligible organizations include "nonprofit organizations, teachers, principals, school faculty, PTO/PTA groups and other K-12 school-affiliated organizations," according to the foundation. Individuals and organizations can submit multiple applications, but only one grant will be awarded to each organization per calendar year.

The foundation has not said how many awards would be grants this period or how much those awards would be worth. Historically, Krystal Foundation grants have averaged about $2,100, and there have been about 12 awards per year since 2016, the first year of the program.

"We're committed to supporting students, families and schools in Krystal communities," said Sloane Perras, president of The Krystal Foundation and Krystal's chief administrative & legal officer, in a prepared statement. "We want to give back to the teachers and schools that are making a meaningful difference for the children of our customers and employees. It's part of our corporate DNA."

The current grant period runs until Oct. 1. Further information can be found at thekrystalfoundation.com. The online grant application can be accessed at thekrystalfoundation.com/steam-education-apply.
