Google Ups Support for DonorsChoose with $500,000 Commitment to #ISeeMe Campaign

Google.org, a philanthropic initiative of Google, is offering up to $500,000 in matching funds via DonorsChoose.org “for projects created by teachers of color as well as projects from all teachers requesting culturally responsive and antiracist resources.” The commitment is part of Google’s support for the #ISeeMe campaign on DonorsChoose, which supports efforts to help students of color “see themselves” in their studies.

The announcement was made as part of Google’s Teacher Appreciation Week activities. Other activities include:

  • Support for the Thank an Educator program from StoryCorps;
  •  Renewed support for The Conscious Kid, which has “updated its free inclusive reading guide to include more than 50 new titles”; and
  • Sending “free sets of curated books by Asian authors featuring AAPI protagonists to classrooms across the country, starting with eligible teachers at Title I schools,” in conjunction with The Conscious Kid.

Further details can be found on Google’s education blog.
