TouchMath Releasing Spanish Language Update for Dyscalculia Screener

TouchMath will release a new Spanish-language version of its online dyscalculia screener later this month. The screener, DySc, has been available in English since early July.

The DySc screener presents a number of questions for learners to answer, such as identifying the number of dots on the screen, filling in missing numbers in patterns, and solving arithmetic problems. The questions are designed to detect early math difficulties. The results can be used to choose appropriate interventions.

According to TouchMath, "Widely underdiagnosed, dyscalculia is a neurodevelopmental learning disorder estimated to affect 3% to 7% of the worldwide population. It impacts a person's ability to understand and work with numbers and number-related concepts and can lead to various other difficulties with mathematics, from math anxiety to math avoidance."

TouchMath offers a primer on dyscalculia here.

The Spanish-language version is expected to be available Aug. 15. The free screener tool can be found on on dysctest.com.
