Texas District Adopts New LMS To Support a Range of Tech Initiatives

The Aldine Independent School District has switched to a new learning management system (LMS) to manage curriculum, virtual learning, staff development, credit recovery and more.

Aldine ISD has a history of embracing technology, with a virtual school featuring a project-based learning environment launched in 1996. Other technology initiatives in the district include distance learning, bring-your-own-device and other technology integration efforts, district-wide curriculum planning, online professional development and personal learning communities.

The district chose to adopt Schoology because of its ability to meet the diverse needs of those various programs, according to Kiesha Taylor, coordinator of online learning at Aldine ISD.

"With Schoology, our instructors can collaboratively create and share content, communicate with students and each other and manage their courses and students," said Taylor, in a prepared statement. "Schoology will be the core application allowing us to meet all of our goals for the Aldine Virtual School as well as other initiatives in our district."

"All the district's initiatives can flow through Schoology," Taylor added. "It streamlines many of our processes, is easy to use and maintain and provides the integrity we expect so that our students benefit from having the best technology to support their learning needs."
