Indiana Virtual Academy Adopts Angel LMS

Indiana Virtual Academy has made the move to the Angel Learning Management System from Angel Learning. Indiana Virtual was originally conceived as a means of providing postsecondary educational opportunities to rural students in Indiana but now serves students across the state, including high school and middle school students seeking advanced courses and accelerated education, homebound students, students looking to make up credits, and continuing education students.

"As a relatively new organization to online learning (since 2003), and one that has been funded through grants, it is imperative that we get the most of the monies we have. Following a thorough investigation of Angel, it was an easy decision to make the change to this LMS," said Fred Sagester, director of Indiana Virtual, in a statement released last week. "Angel staff met our needs, assisted with the migration of courses, provided follow-up where needed and did so in a timely manner. It is also important to me that the Indiana Virtual Academy can use an Indiana-based company that can provide everything other LMS organizations can provide and in some cases even more."

The online academy will use Angel LMS to deliver virtual courses in English, math, social studies, and other subjects to students across the state. It was previously targeted only toward students in four specific rural areas.
