Pearson Debuts enVisionMATH Elementary Curriculum

Pearson has launched a new math curriculum targeted specifically toward elementary students. Dubbed enVisionMATH, the program combines traditional (print) curriculum elements with elements aimed at technologically oriented students, including animations and online visual learning tools. It's being demonstrated this week at the FETC show in Orlando, FL.

According to Pearson, enVisionMATH is aimed at students who "are growing up in a digital world of iPods, the Internet, instant messaging, and computer games, but, until now,... have all been 'powering down' when they enter the classroom." Authored by Randy Charles, former vice president of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, the program provides personalized instruction using graphics, animations, and interactive learning tools to provide math education for a wide range of students, including special needs and ELL students.

Some of the other features of enVisionMATH include:

  • Available in English and Spanish;
  • Visual Learning Bridge components for providing step by step explanations of the concepts;
  • Daily differentiated instruction, with 20 individual focused topics for each grade level;
  • Whiteboard-ready resources;
  • Online editions; and
  • Assessments and prescriptions embedded throughout the programs.
