Harbinger Knowledge Products has released version 7.0 of Elicitus, its e-learning authoring tool. The new release provides usability enhancements, including an embedded sound recorder.

With the sound recorder users can record their own voice-overs and include those with their e-learning courses. They can also bring in pre-recorded voices, music or sound effects. The recorder can be used to record sound for topic pages, questions, hyperlinks, media attachments and glossary terms.

The release also provides more options for global settings, enhanced score tracking mechanisms and support for more media formats.

"This release enhances the user experience for course creators," said Seema Chaudhary, director, business development. "We want course creators to spend more time and energy in defining the content and less time in figuring out how to use a tool or in programming. This release is a significant step forward in that direction."

Elicitus includes ready-made layout templates with built-in course navigation and display. A slide converter utility allows users to convert existing PowerPoint presentations into online courses. Another module, Raptivity for Elicitus, allows users to add interactivity to their courses.
