PBS Brings Web 2.0 Strategies to Professional Development
PBS TeacherLine is expanding its preK-12 teacher professional development resources with the relaunch of several courses focusing on strategies and techniques for incorporating Web 2.0 tools into instruction.
Four fall 2009 online courses focusing on instructional technology have been updated to focus on strategies for Web 2.0 use in class. These expanded courses include:
- The Computer for Personal Productivity (TECH 300), focusing on the use of Web 2.0 tools for collaboration and communication;
- Searching and Researching on the Internet (TECH 325), which tackles strategies for helping students develop digital literacy skills;
- Communicate and Collaborate Online (TECH 330), which focuses on the use (and evaluation) of Web 2.0 tools like wikis, blogs, and social networking sites; and
- Evaluating and Organizing Internet Resources and Content (TECH 340), in which educators "learn the skills and strategies students need to become digital citizens, including how to organize Web sites and their content through the use of free online and Web 2.0 tools."
Course enrollment is open now. Courses begin online Oct. 28. PBS TeacherLine currently offers about 145 graduate-level courses online, covering science, reading, math, and instructional strategies. Further information can be found here.
