California District Rolls Out eLearning Platform District-wide

Bakersfield City School District, Bakersfield, CA, announced that it has rolled out an eLearning platform, one that shares lesson plans and instructional strategies between 33 elementary schools, eight junior high schools, and one alternative school.

"We are proud to be the first California school district to harness technology district-wide to support teachers and their efforts to give students the best instruction," the district's superintendent, Michael Lingo, said in a prepared statement.

The eLearning platform, Learning Village, is a Web-based communication tool that supports more than 100,000 simultaneous users and provides instructional resources, shared lesson plans, and the option to assess student's academic abilities.
