Colorado League of Charter Schools Turns to Nonprofit To Improve Assessment

The Colorado League of Charter Schools has teamed with a private partner in an effort to improve student assessment at charter schools across the state.

The league has partnered with the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA), which will provide "resources including the MAP assessment, MAP for Primary Grades (MPG), Children's Progress Academic Assessment (CPAATM), MAP Science Assessments and Virtual Comparison Group data at discounted rates to league members," according to a news release.

Teachers and administrators will also have access to coaching and professional development services at a discounted rate as a result of the agreement.

Additionally, the two organizations plan to host a series of events, including a "lunch 'n learn" gathering in January and a topic presentation led by NWEA at the league's annual conference in February, designed to build "the capacity of educators and administrators to utilize NWEA's tools," according to information released by the association.

"Our collaboration with NWEA is an immense opportunity to help educators maximize the academic potential of every student," said Nora E. Flood, president of the Colorado League of Charter Schools, in a prepared statement. "Our partnership gives charter schools greater access to instructional tools such as the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) interim assessment that will further support quality instruction and improve student learning."
