Alvin ISD Adopts Cloud-Based ERP

Alvin Independent School District (ISD) in Texas has implemented a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in an effort to streamline administrative processes.

The district, which serves 22,000 students across 25 campuses, had been using separate financial and human resource management systems. District leaders wanted to replace those products with an integrated system to improve their general ledger, budget, procurement and payroll management, according to a news release.

Following a competitive review process, the district selected the Munis ERP system from Tyler Technologies. The multi-year software-as-a-service (SaaS) agreement includes hosting services, support and related professional services for core Munis applications, including financial, human resources and payroll management.

According to information from Tyler Technologies, the Munis ERP will help the district share data across departments, eliminate manual processes, free up IT staff time to work on other projects and access "data analytics and reporting functionality that district staff can use to further enhance the accuracy of financial forecasts and long-term strategic planning."

Other school districts that have implemented the cloud-based Munis ERP in the last year include Jackson-Madison County Schools in Tennessee, Stafford County Public Schools in Virginia and Leander Independent School District in Texas. In 2013, all 173 school districts in the state of Kentucky adopted the Munis ERP based on the recommendation of the Kentucky Department of Education.
