AT&T Helps Open the Door to Diversity

A broad public-private partnership of AT&T, Court TV and the National Middle School Association (NMSA) with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), Cable in the Classroom (CIC), Steven Spielberg's Shoah Foundation, Education Development Center and the U.S. Department of Education recently unveiled a landmark multimedia campaign. Entitled Opening the Door to Diversity, the campaign's purpose is to teach middle school students the harmful effects of intolerance and hate while highlighting positive ways to deal with diversity.

The campaign includes a comprehensive resource guide with ten suggested lesson plans on tolerance and diversity issues. These classroom materials were created by a team of professional middle school educators in collaboration with writers from the ADL, NMSA and CIC. Accompanying these lesson plans are four videos to prompt discussion on subjects such as stereotypes, cliques and the media's influence how people perceive one another. The new resource guide and accompanying videos developed for Opening the Door to Diversity will be conveniently and widely available from various sources and online at www.courttv.com/choices/diversity.
