Napster, CAN Offer Higher Ed Cheap, Legal Downloading Services

Continuing the record industry’s push to offer safe and legal downloading services to students, the Campus Action Network (CAN) and Napster have teamed up to offer cheap and safe downloads to college students nationwide. CAN, which is run by Sony BMG Music Entertainment, has worked closely with schools and legal online music services to set up programs that are much safer than the illegal peer-to-peer sites.

The revamped Napster, which boasts the largest music catalog and more community features than any other legal music downloading site, is now offering its services to students at a discounted rate.Already signed up for the program are institutions such as the University of Southern California, Cornell University and the University of North Carolina.
