PBS Debuts Earth Day Lesson Plan, SAT Test Prep, Preschool Content

In recognition of Earth Day (April 22), PBS has debuted a new global warming-themed lesson plan for grades 9 through 12. PBS has also launched resources for SAT preparation through its NOW Classroom program.
According to PBS, its Global Warming lesson plan is aimed at social studies, debate, language arts, government/citizenship, and current events high school classes and aligns with McRel Content Knowledge standards. Additional resources include interviews, video programs, and links to outside sources, such as environmental organizations.

NOW Classroom has also launched two SAT preparation resource sites focused on reading comprehension and essay prep. Both sites feature learning activities in a downloadable PDF format that ties in with transcripts from NOW on PBS programs.
In other PBS news, PBS Kids this week announced that it will debut new Spanish-language content that will tie in with its interactive preschool curriculum themes starting May 19. Features include a new segment highlighting online learning games at PBS Kids and music and songs with introductions to Spanish vocabulary.
"The new season of the PBS Kids preschool destination is designed to encourage children's curiosity about the world around them by providing an interactive and contemporary environment where they can meet new people and experience different cultures," said Lesli Rotenberg, senior vice president of PBS Kids Next Generation Media, in a statement released yesterday. "With the addition of a Spanish teacher and a music teacher, PBS Kids is offering all children the opportunity to benefit from an enriching and diverse preschool experience."
