Lotus Expands Ed. Pricing Program

Lotus Development has expanded its Total Campus Option (TCO) program by lowering the purchase requirement for North American K-12 schools and districts. TCO is a comprehensive pricing program that allows faculty, staff and students to use Lotus products -- complete with technical support and upgrades -- for a low annual fee.

Responding to customer demands, the firm reduced the minimum participation requirement from 2,500 to 500 full-time faculty and staff.

Part of the Lotus Academic Passport Program, the TCO applies to all core Lotus products including 1-2-3, Freelance Graphics, Word Pro, Approach, Lotus Organizer, ScreenCam, Lotus Notes and cc:Mail.

The pricing program sells on a three-year contract basis that includes software licenses, Named Caller unlimited support for the school's help desk, a Lotus KnowledgeBase online subscription, and all upgrades and revisions that occur within the contract period. Annual fees range from $1.50 to $11 per FTE, depending on school size and product chosen.

The Department of Education (D'E) in Hawaii recently purchased the TCO for 243 schools throughout the state's eight islands. Lotus Development Corp., Cambridge, MA, (800) 57-LOTUS, www.lotus.com/school.
