Simulation SW Aids Complex System Design

Simulink 2, software for complex systems design by engineers, now offers greater functionality, modeling and analysis capabilities. This new version features an advanced simulation engine that supports faster, more accurate simulations of continuous-time systems.

When coupled with MATLAB, a technical computing language used by over 400,000 worldwide, Simulink 2 provides a complete engineering environment for design, modeling and analysis of real-world systems.

Users receive an open and extensible block diagram environment containing a wide variety of predefined and customizable components. These blocks will speed the modeling, simulating, and analyzing of nonlinear, dynamic systems such as electronic engine control, missile guidance and avionics control.

The new version includes a suite of ordinary differential equation solvers supporting stiff systems, discontinuous systems and systems with algebraic loops.

Simulink 2 now also supports conditionally executed subsystems, both triggered and enabled. And many new and enhanced blocks, for modeling, are found in the Block Library. Educational discounts are available. The MathWorks, Inc., Natick, MA, (508) 647-7000, www.mathworks.com. WMU
