Chicago Area School District Installs Crisis Management System

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Bloom Township High School District 206 of Chicago Heights, IL, has installed the Rapid Responder crisis management system to provide information to police, fire, emergency medical, and school security personnel in the event of a school emergency.

BTHSD 206 is one of eight districts that are the first in Illinois to install the system. Seattle-based Prepared Response, which developed Rapid Responder, provided emergency preparedness training in all eight districts in conjunction with the system's deployment.

"We could not have done this without the dedication and cooperation of local police and fire personnel who spent days working with us and other districts on safety planning, and the (district) personnel ... who put in the time to make the buildings safer for students," said BTHSD 206 superintendent Glen Giannetti.

Rapid Responder can instantly send floor plans, aerial imagery, evacuation plans and routes, and other relevant information to first responders via computer. Having such information can make the difference between safety and injury, and even life and death, in fires, bomb threats, school shootings and other emergency situations.
