CDW-G and Discovery Ed Contest To Give Away 21st Century Classroom Gear

Three K-12 schools will win a 21st century classroom outfit that includes 20 tablet or notebook computers, three wireless access points, a notebook cart, interactive whiteboard, student response system, projector, printer, document camera, and a $5,000 digital media grant in an annual contest. The sweepstakes drawing is sponsored by CDW Government (CDW-G), which sells hardware and software to educators and governments, and Discovery Education, which produces digital video and multimedia-based resources for students.

This year's "Win a Wireless Lab" sweepstakes--in its eighth year in the United States--allows participants to enter daily by providing information to a CDW-G Web site and gives entrants a way to triple their chances of winning by tweeting via Twitter about the contest once a day.

"Today's students live in a digital world, and should not have to 'power down' when they enter school," said Mary Rollins, vice president of Discovery Education. "The Win a Wireless Lab grand prizes include digital content and technologies that empower teachers to engage students in learning, and ultimately, help each child live up to their fullest academic potential."

The contest sponsors will award an NEC video projector monthly from the pool of entrants collected that month and entrants will also have the chance to win interactive whiteboards, netbooks, and digital camcorders. The contest is open to public and private school teachers, administrators, and school and district technology specialists. Prizes go to their individual schools. Entries will be accepted through May 3, 2010. Winners will be announced in summer 2010.
