Allen ISD Centralizes Digital Media Management

Allen Independent School District in Texas is moving to a digital media management system that lets users schedule and control all classroom media devices from a single interface.

The move is part of an upgrade to the district's Safari Montage implementation that includes the addition of the Pathways SM module. Safari Montage is a WAN-based VOD and digital media management system designed specifically for schools. The Pathways SM module provides management, scheduling, and control functionality over classroom equipment, including projectors, document cameras, media players, and other devices. The upgrade was handled by systems integrator Delcom Group.

"It goes without saying that today's students are engaged with digital media--it surrounds them everywhere, all the time," said David Spann, Allen ISD's director of technology, in a prepared statement. "Therefore, it is critical for us to provide teachers with the tools and resources to maximize the educational technologies they use in the classroom every day."

Allen ISD serves more than 18,000 students in 22 schools, including 16 elementary schools, three middle schools, one high school, and two academic centers.
