Archdiocese of New York Schools Sign with Smart Tuition

The Archdiocese of New York Catholic School System is continuing with its regionalization program after selecting a single vendor for tuition management.

The school system, the nation's second largest Catholic system, is partnering with Smart Tuition after undertaking a comprehensive review of services.

The Archdiocese of New York consists of New York, Bronx, and Richmond counties within New York City in addition to Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties. It comprises 405 parishes and more than 200 elementary and high schools.

The school system is currently in the midst of a plan to configure schools into administrative regions through its "Pathways to Excellence" strategic plan and the adoption of the tuition partnership is part of the larger regionalization restructuring.

Through the partnership, Smart will handle parent inquiries, deposits, accounting, collections, and many functions of enrollment tracking, as well as experience in fundraising.

The partnership comes after recent adoption of similar partnerships by nearby diocesan school systems including the Diocese of Syracuse, NY, which recently moved 19 schools to Smart and the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT, which opted last year to utilize Smart for all diocesan elementary schools.

The move will add additional student accounts to Smart's portfolio, which already include more than 500,000 student accounts and encompassing "over 250,000 households in 46 states," according to information from Smart.
